After landing an upcoming Super Bowl and a Final Four, Minnesota is ready to push for its next big event: the 2023 World’s Fair.
Organizers are preparing their bid for an event they hope will lure millions of tourists to see the latest in global technology and culture in the Twin Cities area. The last fair in the U.S. was in 1984 in New Orleans.
“We think our legacy will have some aspects of changing how Minnesota is perceived in the world. It will have a legacy of changing how we are able to attract and retain talent,” bid director Mark Ritchie said
Organizers say they haven’t decided where such a fair would be in the Twin Cities. They’ll submit the bid next year. At this point, the $1.5 million needed to submit a bid is being raised.
